I’ve been thinking about the things that make me come alive, and how I don’t always realize which moments have truly ignited my soul until they have long passed, but that’s okay, because I am left with sweet memories that have made my life electric. For me, the experiences that have given me my spirit have been chasing the wild California sun with my camera at my side, waking up to coffee in Paris with an old friend, climbing through Big Sur with a back pack heavy with beer, and the hope of finding a new river, mountain, or meadow to explore with dear friends, winters home bundled up with Mom, Dad, and my brother making ourselves warm with wine and laughter, laying on that old couch with my grandparents, my papa listening to my stories and guiding my path with his wise advice and endless support, spending hours talking nonsense with my best friend and knowing that we have a friendship that could never be broken by argument or time, running wild across the west coast with a lover, drunken nights in small town Wisconsin with the people I hold dearest to my heart, ecstatic and giddy just to be back together again, working restlessly with my chosen profession, my photography, and seeing the rewards, being taken care of across the country by perfect strangers and connecting through passion for art and freedom, and knowing that I love and am loved. These are the things that make me feel truly alive.
